About Surrey Junior Golf
Founded by PGA Professional Phil Robson, Surrey Junior Golf was created with a simple goal: to provide a fun, welcoming and inspiring environment where children can learn, develop, and enjoy the game of golf.
Since establishing the junior academy at The Drift Golf Club in 2012, Phil has helped more than 1,000 young golfers discover the game through structured coaching programmes designed for all ages and abilities.
Today, Surrey Junior Golf continues to provide a clear pathway for young golfers to build confidence, develop their skills, and reach their potential both on and off the golf course.
Alongside our academy programmes at The Drift Golf Club, we also work with local schools across Surrey, introducing more children to golf and inspiring a lifelong love of the game.
Meet the Coaching Team…
Phil Robson
The team is led by Phil Robson, PGA Head Professional at The Drift Golf Club.
With over 15 years of experience coaching junior golfers, Phil is passionate about helping children of all abilities enjoy the game and develop both their golfing skills and confidence. His coaching combines expert instruction with fun, engaging activities, creating a positive environment where every child feels supported and encouraged to progress.
Phil believes that every young golfer develops at their own pace, and his aim is to ensure that every child leaves each session having learnt something new, grown in confidence and, most importantly, enjoyed their time on the course.

What we do…
At Surrey Junior Golf, we provide a clear and enjoyable pathway for children to learn, play and progress in golf. Our coaching programmes are carefully designed to help every child develop their skills, grow in confidence and enjoy being part of a welcoming junior golfing community.
Based at The Drift Golf Club, we offer a variety of coaching opportunities throughout the year, including after-school academy sessions, holiday golf camps, individual coaching and on-course development. Whether a child is picking up a golf club for the first time or looking to take their game to the next level, our programmes are tailored to support every stage of their journey.
Beyond learning golf, our sessions encourage important values such as respect, honesty, resilience and sportsmanship. Above all, we aim to create an environment where children have fun, make new friends and develop a lifelong love of the game.
Golf in Schools…
As part of our commitment to growing the game, Surrey Junior Golf works with schools across Surrey to introduce children to golf through our Tri Golf programme.
Tri Golf is a fun, safe and inclusive introduction to the sport, using specially designed plastic clubs and soft sponge golf balls that allow children to take part in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Through a range of engaging games and team-based activities, children develop key physical skills such as balance, coordination and hand-eye coordination, while also building confidence, communication and teamwork. Most importantly, Tri Golf provides an enjoyable first experience of golf and inspires many children to continue their journey at Surrey Junior Golf.

“Josh joined Surrey Junior Golf when he was just five years old and is now fifteen. Phil has an incredible ability to make learning golf fun, which is why Josh always looked forward to the holiday camps, came home full of enthusiasm and made so many great friends along the way.
Over the years, Phil’s patient and encouraging coaching has helped Josh develop not only his technical skills but also his confidence and love for the game. Golf has become his favourite sport, and he now regularly competes in junior tournaments while continuing to enjoy one-to-one lessons with Phil.
Golf is a challenging game, but Phil’s coaching gives young players the confidence to keep improving while ensuring every lesson remains enjoyable.”
